Portage Description:
Almost a third of a mile of continuous effort characterizes this portage. It is on a par with the 90 rod Indiana to Basswood portage. Expect an arduous hundred foot climb and descent over rough terrain. The trail takes several twists and turns. A good challenge. It is seldom used and may be overgrown, so you must watch your step. One of our party stepped into a hole seen by nobody else and injured a knee.

Lake after portage: Good
Known campsites: 2
Lake Description:

A very clear lake at the same elevation as Basswood into which it drains via Good Creek. Because of this it ought to hold the same fish as Basswood. One can paddle directly out of Good Lake in higher water, otherwise a short pullover among rocks is required. Good Lake is a pretty lake divided into two parts by a peninsula jutting from the north shore nearly to the south shore.

One campsite is near the portage landing and it appears substandard. The campsite along the south shore at the narrows across from the peninsula is quite good.
