Portage Description:
The two short portages out of Earl are no problem. The 50 and 60 into Brent are not used much. They are in the general area indicated on Fisher&McKenzie maps. Look for the old blazes on the trees at the portages (virtually every portage in BW&Q has them), Both portages have some low, wet spots and both climb up over a height of land. Neither is difficult except for a couple steep spots that can be slippery. Early in the season there were several downed trees and the trails were very dim and easy to lose. There are some magnificent white pines on the last portage before Brent. The 50 rod was more like 80 rods.
