Portage Description:
The portage is somewhat overgrown but otherwise not bad. About 1/2 way you will find yourself on a rather large hill overlooking what used to be a lake, but now overgrown with grass. This pine studded area is a good spot for a respite because it is fairly open here.
Lake after portage: Buck
Known campsites: 2
Lake Description:
After your 1.5 mile carry you will be in for a treat. A nice sandy beach awaits the tired canoeist. A refreshing dip into Buck is hard to resist. This long skinny lake runs almost in a W-E direction. The Fisher map indicates one campsite on the lake, but we camped on a very nice site in the middle of the lake on the N side. It is slightly elevated and the hill behind it was loaded with blueberries.
