Does anyone have any comments about waterproof barrels? I think we should just pack everything into waterproof bags, then into backpacks. But my friend (who has more general canoe experience, but has never been to BWCA) thinks barrels are the way to go. Seems like they are too bulky, and will make life more difficult, but at least they wouldn't sink to the bottom...just in case. I thought the barrels were used more often for whitewater.
