We three old timer dads are taking our 11 and 12 year old daughters into Quetico for their first time. This will be my first visit back to Quetico in 12 years. 12 to 30 years ago I was a frequent visitor to Russell, Fred and Sturgeon; but this year we want to keep portaging; moving camp and long hauls to a minimum because of the girls.

We are planning to camp in west Pickerel, but we are concerned about wind and fishing. I've tried fishing Pickerel while passing through in years past with no luck at all. I've heard that Rawn Narrows and Rawn Lake might be a good location. What about Pickerel Narrows-- too much traffic these days? Any suggestions or advice?
