WOW! I just found this website and it's GREAT!! Especially the portage information.My first-ever BWCA/Quetico trip is set up for last week of June. We want to spend most of our 7 days camping on Wicksteed and Darky and would appreciate advice from anyone with experience travelling up the Darky River, from Minn Lake to Darky Lake. How difficult is it to paddle upriver (against the current) at this time of year? With our McAree Lake entry permit, we have the choice of the Minn/Darky route(which appears to be shorter with fewer portages) or the McAree-Iron-Crooked-Roland-Argo-Darky route. The latter route's scenery is legendary, but appears to be longer with more portages. We want to change campsites as few times as possible, so we can spend more time relaxing and soaking in the sights, sounds and scenery. Any advice would be really appreciated!
