Portage Description:
I would rate this as an average portage with the exception of the first 50m or so. That first hill can be tough, esp. on the person with the canoe, it is quite steep with some twist to the trail but for most part after the hill it is pretty uneventful. Watch the landing, best keep to the right to the rocks (ahhh, he said rocks...canoe...arghh) just be careful of them, the left side is on deep water and if you drop any gear it's pretty much gone. Plus it can be difficult for novice to exit a canoe on that side.

Lake after portage: Ester
Known campsites: 5
Lake Description:

Some of the best fishing is after the portage on the left bank next to the rocks. If you find one certain rock that is out from the wall in 2-3m of water. Very good smallmouth action there. Anyway, good luck...oh, by the way, my preferred campsite on ester is either tip of the island at the south end of the lake.
