Portage Description:
Every year we ask, "do we want to do this again?" And very year we do. Finding the portage is cause for celebration. The portage is a moose trail that winds through two or three swamps. Very narrow, very muddy, and the a breeding ground for the sate bird of Minnesota. The water is very high in the spring and you can expect to be waist deep in mud and water. After you complete the first leg, you proceed a cross a small bog and have to cross a small lake and locate the 2nd portion of the portage--again, a very difficult task. If you do, your reward is a shortcut to the insane fishing on the upper Maligne river.
