Portage Description:
Getting into Pooh Bah this way requires 3 or 4 different portages. The last portage can be lined depending on water level. The first portage is easy to find. The second portage can be more difficult to locate. Keep heading east further than you think you need to, until you see a small rapids. Here you will have to get out to the right of the rapids and walk until you find a more worn path. If the water level is low, you could line up the rapids. This year the water was too high to do that. The 3rd portage is very soon after the 2nd one. It is on the left side. You have to go under a downed tree before you get to it. The exit from this 3 portage is tricky. The water is fast and there are numerous rocks. We walk our canoes out through the rocks to a large log that is just waiting for you to hop on it and take off. It was obviously put there for this purpose many, many years ago. Then, the next part of the stream is extremely shallow. You can line up the creek or try to go through the woods on the left side of the creek. After that, it's smooth sailing.
