Portage Description:
The first 100 rods are a gradual uphill, with good footing. The last 100 rods are level, but rocky and muddy. It should be said that we came through a few days after some heavy rain, but those last 100 rods were a mess: ankle-deep puddles with soft bottoms alternating with crooked boulders. If the trail was drier maybe you could pick your footing better. Oh and did I mention the bugs?? June in the BWCA. Come prepared.
