Portage Description: This portage is essentially a well worn, well-drained path, with a bit of elevation gain in the middle. The only part that you really have to give any though to is the landing on Tin Can Mike when you have a fierce wind at your back, since there's a lot of downed timber and a few big rocks to avoid. Lake after portage: Horse Known campsites: 7 Lake Description: Horse river flows out of the northeast corner of Horse lake, leading to Basswood river and Crooked lake. Fishing's good below the rapids and riffles, as well on the windward side of points in the main lake. Portage from Horse into: Fourtown Lower Basswood Falls Return to Tin Can Mike
