Portage Description:
I felt this route was worthy of mentioning. Moosecamp river from Moosecamp lake to Fourtown has, at the time we went, 3 beaver dams. None are very tall. Just tall enough to have to get your feet wet so wear you teva's going into this one. The river took us about 1.5 hrs to navigate. There are a lot of s curves. If you are a novice paddler, allow 2 hrs and take your time. It is really a nice trip. When we went to the ranger station, they said that Moosecamp river is too low to paddle. Water levels would have to be 3ft below normal for this to be true. The beginning of the river is the most shallow section. If the water levels are really really low, rudder towards the center of the channel. The beavers have made an 8 ft. deep canal that runs the length of the shallows.

Lake after portage: Fourtown
Known campsites: 8+
Lake Description:

Fourtown is big with big wind potential. We went through at about 1pm. Not a good choice on a fall day. Thankfully the wind was out of the NW and at our backs. It made for some fun surfing. Due to the wind we spent as little time on this lake as possible.
