Portage Description:
This portage starts with a nice take-out area which leads to a lightly used trail. The trail drops down into an old dried up pond that probably is very wet during wetter seasons. After climbing out of the low area it levels out for a little ways and then drops downhill to the river. Put-in area is very shallow and very muddy. We bushwhacked down the bank a little ways to get to more canoe able water.

Lake Description:
The Kawishiwi River in this area is very pretty. It looks much like Malberg, more lake-like than river.
