Portage Description:
Our group of seven really tackled this portage. The three guys did it naked. We were in a groove and wanted to do all of our portages in one trip. The ladies doubled up with packs. We packed fairly light that trip.

Not that bad in the fall. Swampy area in the beginning, but many logs to help you thru.

The five foot drop is easily accomplished without dropping canoe as there is a bit of a 'step' halfway down. About midway there was a bit of water which might make it tricky in spring. Then a 'slight' uphill.

Toward the end the portage can get a bit overgrown. But not a problem, unless of course you're naked. At end of portage, lake bottom is fairly mucky, but clear of snags.

Lake after portage: Lonely
Known campsites: 8+
Lake Description:

Rocky north/northwest shore. Deep, clear lake. Campsites on north shore on many rock points which jut out. On island in north end were some good campsites.

Remember when going into portage into Walter go WAY back to the steep obvious portage past beaver dams and shallows. There were some bum trails to the right/north.
