Portage Description:
My advice is that when you get to the landing on Yeh, everyone in your party should join hands and say a prayer for your deliverance.

It begins with the first 300m through a swamp. If you've ever seen the film Apocalypse Now, you may recall a scene where Kurtz, played by Marlon Brando, chillingly whispers the phrase, "The horror...the horror." Rumor has it, Brando recalled his experience on this section of the Yeh to Lonely portage in a Quetico trip many years ago in an effort to emote maximum dramatic effect required by this scene. Be prepared to jump from log to log and tie your shoes on tight - no, better yet, glue them on. I hasten to add that any notion you have at this section of keeping you feet dry should be abandoned to reality. After traversing this section you get to go straight uphill for the next 200m. After a session of defibrillation, the remainder of the portage is generally up and down. There is a point where you begin a long descent believing that Lonely is just a round the corner and you're about to prevail over the grim reaper...BUT...April fools... you're only half way there.
