Portage Description:
recap - the forest service rerouted the part of this portage that starts at Burntside in '03. I traveled it in 9/03, and again in 7/04.

Since 9/03 - still not sure of the new length. McKenzie & Fisher haven't updated their maps. I asked a ranger that I ran into on Crab lake, and she didn't know either.

Anyway - the forest service has done a lot of work on the new section of the portage, and it's a lot better than last fall. It's still tough, with lots of up and down, but the footing has been smoothed out A LOT.
