Portage Description:
Update from my '03 comments - the portage was rerouted in 2003. The new portage is longer - I don't know for certain what the length but I am guessing about 420 based on time to portage. The beginning (perhaps 1st 140) is fairly rugged - up and down, poor footing, although better than in 2003. The last 280 is all but a paved highway - although there is a climb going from Burntside to Crab.
