Portage Description:
This portage has it all. Deep bogs, windfall, hills, slippery slopes, and length. I traveled it before the 1999 windstorm and it had considerable windfall which perhaps have been since cleared (as were many portages in BWCA during summer 1999). This portage is the most challenging in a rugged series of four between Banadad and Long Island. By simply looking at a map it is easy to underestimate this portage.
