Yes there is passage to Clearwater from rock island. After reaching rock island stay along west shoreline go back to end of bay, it looks like a grassy field but it is a bog with very little or no evidence of a portage. The edge of the bog was very unstable, difficult to land canoe and get out, (edge breaks away and you sink) the bog is about 40 rods, walk softly or you will sink thru. At the end of the bog is a beaver dam that forms a small unnamed pond follow east shoreline to portage. Portage is 300 rods and a little windy.
