Portage Description:
Fairly steep grade is overcome by the addition of a few flights of wooden stairs. Very do-able and the views at Rose Lake make it all worth it. Take a breather by the waterfall. Duncan is the higher elevation lake so depending on which way you're travelling its up or down the stairs accordingly (down to Rose, up to Duncan).

Lake Description:
Border Lake surrounded by some high cliffs, and hiking trails. Minnesota side of lake is well protected from wind out of the south and west but Canadian shore appears to have experienced major blowdowns! ('99 Independence Day?)
