Falls Chain #5 to Falls Chain #6

Quetico portage

Portage Description:
This portage takes you around both Little and Koko Falls. It can be split into two shorter carries, but the stretch of river between is so short that it's simply not worth it. You'll expend more time and effort unloading and reloading than just walking the longer trail. As you head downstream, you will find the portage head at the end of a granite finger sticking out into the river on the left bank. The landing has plenty of room for two canoes. An inferior landing is located a few rods downstream for those who feel they must take the absolute shortest portage. We found the better landing to be worth a few extra rods of portaging. The trail is pretty rocky with several granite ledges and blowdowns across the path. None is insurmountable, however. The path also goes up and down several times over it's length. If you are taking the entire Falls Chain in one day, you'll be pretty tired by the time you finish this portage. There are some spur trails leading off this portage that allow better views of both falls. If you plan to take this as one portage, be sure you take the left fork in the path as you head downstream.

Lake after portage: Falls Chain #6
Known campsites: None at all
Lake Description:

The next portage will also be on the left bank as you head downstream. It is just a couple hundred yards ahead, so stay close to the left bank.
