Fishing Quetico and the Boundary Waters
Handling the Fish you catch.

Bass:
Smallmouth and Largemouth - are the easiest and safest to handle. They do have dorsal spines, which can be easily avoided by lip landing them. As you get a bass alongside the canoe stick your thumb in the fish's open mouth taking great care to avoid any hooks, and grab the lower lip tightly. Remove the hooks and release or put on the stringer.
