Portage Description:
Friends of mine had done this portage several years ago and told me they didn't remember anything about it because it was so normal, but this moderate length flat portage turned out to be very difficult in Summer 01. Look around back of a large blowdown to find the path. It is little-used, muddy, and blocked by many small blowdowns which were irritating but not impassible, as far as we walked. After walking most of it, our group ended up going into Jackfish (where we were headed with our Primitive Management Area permit) from Thursday Bay instead. At this high water year, that was a very good choice. At low water, I would brave this portage and go in through Wabasons. I'm not sure if this portage is part of the PMA, if not, the blowdowns may eventually be cleared.
