Portage Description:
Nice portage. No long climbs up or down. Footing can be a bit tricky in places, loose rocks. One in our group slightly turned an ankle. There were also a couple of sharp turns that were a bit tight with a 17' canoe. Nice launch site on Buck. The campsite on the south side of the lake is further east then the map shows. If you paddle along the south shore you can't miss it. If you are seeking solitude this is the place. We had one group go by in 4 days.

Lake after portage: Buck
Known campsites: 2
Lake Description:

Long narrow lake. Nice fishing. Special note: One afternoon we traveled down Buck Creek to Pine Lake to see if this was a possible way to avoid the portages out. Let's just say it was a challenging run with an empty canoe, let alone with a loaded one. The scenery and the views from some of the outcroppings was very nice.
