Portage Description: The JAP portage is legendary. Dave from Hungry Jack Outfitters told us it has been called Heart Attack Hill. Aptly named. Very long, grueling and up, up, up, and then down, down, down. From JAP towards Seagull, watch the beginning out of JAP. Very steep rise up a rock wall (almost a wall anyway). Watch for turns of the portage trail amongst moose trails or you can lose your way. At the top you can see Seagull out in the distance to the north (ahead and to your left at the peak of the hill). This portage is definitely one of the most difficult I've encountered, but I would do it again to see and fish JAP lake again. Lake after portage: Seagull Known campsites: not sure Lake Description: JAP - 2 sites. One on south side of larger island. Nice site - good room for a larger group. Good fishing off a drop off on south side of island - Lakers. Seagull - large, long lake. Long paddle back to EP and a cold beverage. Portage from Seagull into: Return to Jap Alpine Rog Grandpa
