Portage Description:
Fisher map has a bad placement of this portage from Unnamed to Cirrus. You won't find the portage in the muskeg on the northeast corner of the unnamed lake where Fisher locates it. Look for it about 1/8 mile to the west of the map placement on the rocky part of the shoreline. On the Cirrus side it is in the far west point of the bay rather than the eastern part of the bay where the map locates it. Expect some difficulty on the Cirrus end of the portage. The landing on Cirrus is a steep 4 foot drop into a shallow water rock garden. Impossible to load and take off without getting wet. Close to the end of the trail there is a new alternate trail to the right that leads to a much better landing. Unfortunately the trail takes off at almost 90 degrees from the main trail and no large trees have been taken down. There is no easy way to portage a 18' canoe off on that alternate trail. It's kind of like getting a sofa sleeper into an upstairs apartment.

Lake after portage: Cirrus
Known campsites: 3
Lake Description:

A long narrow interesting lake. Cedar, good stands of pine, balsam, and some birch are along the shoreline. Not as impacted by wind and waves as other large lakes in the area.
