Portage Description:
A wide, flat trail (it used to have a railroad!). On windy days, Alton often greets you with whitecaps. Use caution if wet-footing the put-in, since the submerged rocks are slippery and jagged.

Lake after portage: Alton
Known campsites: 8+
Lake Description:

Fairly large, with a couple of sand beaches. Very deep in spots, and entirely spring-fed. Crowded but easy to reach.
