Portage Description: Flowing downstream from Kawasachong to Lake Polly is the Kawishiwi River. More like a stream, the river consists mostly of a shallow, rocky bottom with many downed trees. Because of this, it can easily be called a portage rather than a river. Intermittently there are several marshy ponds that make the stream more like a river and act as break times for drenched and tired canoe mules. Where the river flows into Lake Polly, there is an approximately 8-15 foot series of what can only be described as waterfalls. Although obviously taken by many unsuspecting groups, this route around the Townline Lake portages is not worth anyone's time and effort.
