Boundary Waters portage
Posted by: G.Hommes
Season/Year: Summer 03
Water Level: average
Length: 135 rods
Rating: difficult
Additional Perspectives:

Portage Description:
This brushy trail winds along the creek flowing between Louse and Bug Lakes.

Some segments are fairly rocky and some can get quite muddy after a rain.

This is wood tick city in the early summer!

Lake after portage: Bug
Known campsites: None at all
Lake Description:

Bug Lake is shallow and has emergent vegetation over much of its surface.

A sloping bedrock shoreline makes for a nice rest spot along the north shore, but don't count on obtaining good drinking water here. Any fish in the lake would likely only be small pike.
