Portage Description:
Approaching the portage from the Bald Eagle side might be difficult during low water since its shallow in that area. It's a climb from Bald Eagle up the portage for the first part of the way where it becomes an up and down rolling hills effect with a few really muddy spots along the way. The footing can be difficult in places where there's mud. Putting in at Turtle is impossible without getting your feet wet.

Lake after portage: Turtle
Known campsites: 4
Lake Description:

Turtle Lake is an excellent choice to camp at if you stay away from the camp closest to the Turtle/Bald Eagle portage. NO bear trees there.

The fishing for pike in that lake is very good! We had an excellent day which made doing the portage worth while. A couple of other people that we clued in about the pike fishing there reported later that they had their best day ever of pike fishing on that lake. They also said that the portage was tough, but worth it.
