Portage Description: An easy portage with some tricky footing due to rocky steps at the north end. Good put-in, but the boulder river runs a little bit of a current there and shortly upstream that require some vigorous paddling. This portage goes around a delightful and very photogenic cascade. It is very wide and strewn with small boulders almost giving the appearance of a grand staircase. Haven't seen anything like it anywhere else in the BWCA. Lake after portage: Agnes Known campsites: 8+ Lake Description: Relatively large, open lake, but fairly shallow. Lots of campsites (17 on the Fischer map). Can be a real bear with a head wind though.
