Boulder River to Dahlgren River

Boundary Waters portage

Portage Description:
This portage is used to get to Stuart Lake. It is listed as 140 rods on the Fisher Map, but I believe it is closer to 180 rods. The trail is fairly level but had not received much if any trail maintenance and was crowded on both sides with vegetation and downed trees. Some of the same small downed trees from the year before were still across the trail.

Lake after portage: Dahlgren River
Known campsites: None at all
Lake Description:

The Dahlgren River which leads to Stuart Lake was full of grass so it was almost impossible to see any water. I had to repeatedly push my canoe over sandbars and at times get out and pull the canoe, and I was traveling solo with a fairly light load!
