Portage Description:
Traveled this portage late August a few years back with my 2 teens, 2 aluminum canoes four packs and a dog. We camped the night before on the closest site on Cummins Lake, We figured it would take the whole day to cross and it did. a few swampy areas, could be trouble in wet weather a few hills to climb but generally typical portage stuff. We had a great time, at least I thought, character building stuff, We'd carry a pack or canoe till your tired, drop it go back get another go a little further and relay across. Add a few snack breaks, lunch & nap on a hill covered with berries. one of the portages I'll always remember, although probably not do again soon.
