Portage Description:
This portage is not maintained by USFS, but is an integral link to/from the Beartrap River and Beartrap Lake. Itıs brushy, with some downed logs. August '99 showed some maintenance by individual groups. Several up and down sections and light mud. The rangers tried to discourage us from taking this portage. We found it difficult but very passable. And the Beartrap River was a rugged, challenging treat at the other end.

Lake after portage: Beartrap River
Known campsites: None at all
Lake Description:

No campsites on the Beartrap River. Most parties probably take this portage from Lake to River. Going the other way, there is one excellent campsite on Beartrap Lake and 4 on nearby Thunder Lake.
