Keewatin to Hurlburt Creek

Season/Year: Summer 06
Water Level: average
Length: 25 rods
The Fisher maps have this portage to the left of the waterfall. That side is all forest and deadfall. The real portage is further north around the peninsula. Steep at the start and somewhat steep at the end, I had to get help on one step because my legs weren't long enough (and I'm 5'11). Slightly overgrown. If you have trouble finding it hike up the boulders in the stream bed and look to your right. There was no obstruction anywhere in the muck-bottom creek on the way to the next lake as listed on the map. Plenty of water to float our loaded down canoe. A very pretty float to the next portage. Overall, not that bad a portage out of Keewatin, but not average either.
Lake after portage: Hurlburt Creek
Known campsites: None at all
Noname lake shaped like a turnip. Some logs at the put in.
