Portage Description:
Our party of three canoes was able to chug through this trail relatively easily, due to the nice wide path, generally downward slope, and the cleared path. We were also able to put in easily at the wood bridge at Swamp creek, even though water levels were generally low. I timed the walk to be about 28 minutes without rests, at a moderate pace. Our group of 7 was able to single trip the portage with a medium weight gear and load, without much trouble.

Lake after portage: Stuart River
Known campsites: 5
Lake Description:

The lake water is stained dark, and we were catching Walleye all over the lake, at all times of day, using a variety of tackle. Apparently the larger fish were on vacation when we were there. The camp site at the south end of the lake on the island has a great north view of the lake, which yields great views of the stars and northern lights at night.
