Beaverhouse to QueticoPortage Description: There were three different landing spots which were a bit slippery in areas due to thick clay deposits on the bank. Other than that, very short and scenic. Look for old 1930's truck frame on the right side of the trail as you head to Quetico. Good fishing on Beaverhouse side of Falls. Lake after portage: Quetico Known campsites: 5 Lake Description: Quetico is a beautiful lake, although on our way out the wind had picked up quite a bit, and where the two main portions of the lake meet on the western side, there were at least 2' rollers. Don't take inexperienced canoeists across a wide-open windy bay like that, stay close to shore on windy days. Quetico could be a trip in itself, because it would probably take a whole week to explore all of it, with its islands, cliffs with paintings, big bays, and all the little waterfalls that lead up to "moose marshes".
