Portage Description:
This is The Yellow Brick Road portage. It was named thus by staff from a certain outfitter because it makes people think that portaging is ridiculously easy. It is abnormally easy as portages go. Sandy Beaches at both ends, but it is very rude to go swimming at the portage landing - don't even consider it. Get out of the way so that other poeple can enjoy this misleading, deceptive trail. Many crews have taken this trail thier first day out, and have mistakenly thought that all trails were just like this one. WRONG. This portage got the way it was due to the fact that many years ago, when rangers still were domiciled in the park year-round, one ranger would always make a point of removing at least one rock from this trail every time he traversed it. You can see the results for yourselves. Just don't be fooled into thinking that all portages are this easy.
