Portage Description: I was here in August and I think I caught this portage on a good day. You portage to a long pond where you will paddle to the west end and then portage the rest of the way. You will portage along the Darky River and around four ponds as you head west. There is a muddy stretch around the big pond and other than that the trail is just long. I only rate this trail difficult because of the length. I can see where this trail could be muddy after a rain though. I actually enjoyed this trail because of the sounds of the river and the scenery. Lake after portage: Darky Known campsites: 8+ Lake Description: I was here in August and I stayed on the east side because two separate parties told me of bear trouble on the west side of Darky. There were no more berries for the bear to eat and now he was taking food packs. There are a lot of real nice campsites on Darky. Just be sure to hang your food pack well.
