Portage Description:
Coming up to the Portage is difficult if you try to shoot through the fast water. We tried the second time we came to Quetico and will never do it again. There are two points where you can take your canoe and gear out or in. The first is just before the fastest water. This portage adds some distance, but not much. The water at the right or south is shallow and rocky at the first portage point. The second portage can be muddy and is more easily accessed if you walk your canoe on the right side or south side of the river. This portage does make for an easier walk because the initial hill is not as step.

Lake after portage: Quetico
Known campsites: 8+
Lake Description:

Beautiful, but dangerous at times. Once you get to the main lake you will have a good idea of the conditions. If it is windy be very careful because huge waves are common on windy days. There are several islands on this lake and they can afford some comfort from the wind, also West Bay is close and a short portage into this bay can help get away from the wind.
